Kicks for Climate Action

At Girls Play Global, we believe that everyone deserves education and access to information about global issues. Most of the girls that we train come from rural backgrounds and belong to low-income households, meaning that they often don’t have the same resources that a majority of the urban population does. For this reason, our team is working towards spreading awareness about various problems faced worldwide like climate change, domestic violence, sanitation, etc.

The Kicks for Climate Action tournament was hosted by Girls Play Global in December, 2019 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. We conducted this soccer tournament to not only bring girls together to play soccer, but also to educate them about global issues. This year we have chosen to focus on climate action. Since our planet is slowly but surely being destroyed, it is important that we address the issue by implementing eco-friendly habits in our community and schools. So this tournament will served as platform for girls to share their ideas about protecting our planet as well as to promote gender equality in football.
